So last night, Marcele and Clara were watching TV in my living room while I was in my [adjacent] kitchen doing the dishes. The girls were flipping through channels and all of a sudden I distinctly heard the beginning chords of All Along the Watchtower. Pause.

Tissa: Hey, did you guys hear All Along the Watchtower? I swear I did.
Marcele and Clara: Noooo?
Tissa: OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG FREAK OUT.

Ten minutes later Clara was flipping through channels again and found they were showing a Jimi Hendrix documentary.

Warehouse 13: thought it was cute, but the two main actors are RILLY RILLY MEDIOCRE. Eh. I'm probably gonna keep watching because it's *my* kinda cute sci-fi, but that's about it.

Hung: thought it was really good, but this is the kind of show that makes me a) embarrassed for everyone involved and b) really depressed, so I'm done with it.

The Philanthropist: HATED IT OMFG SO MUCH. I truly didn't believe a single episode could come up with the amount of cultural appropriation stupidity this has. It's a shame, because I love everyone in the cast, but I can't watch a show that has me SEETHING IN HATRED every couple of seconds.

Virtuality: Number of times I've tried to watch it: 4. Number of times I finished it: 0. I guess that says enough about what I think about it? HEE.

So it's been two weeks since I last updated, and seriously, I really gotta stop disappearing like that. And it's not that I haven't been online -- I've been twittering as usual -- it's just that I kept postponing writing my trip recap [and for no real reason], to the point that it got too late for it anyway, but I didn't wanna post anything else before I got that out of the way and then hi, snowball of avoiding Semagic OF DOOM. [/crazy]

Let's just say it was COLD. Clara, Marcele and I spent all of our time either watching T:TSCC or picking on poor Marco Antonio. And eating. A LOT. Oh, and there was a glorious viewing of selected late S3 Dawson's Creek scenes [most. hilarious. scene. in. the. history. of. evah, kthanxbai.] and some X-Files too.

[Addendum: it seems whenever something good happens now, Clara and I will actually physically do the arms up emoticon dude, you know, \o/. And then people stare. Also, no one can say the word "terminate" or variations thereof [also: exterminate. Poor Daleks are doomed.] near us because then we sing the T:TSCC theme [tan-tan-tan -- tan-tan!]. That also leads to people staring.]

And, of course, JENS LEKMAN, which was awesomely awesome and I shall link you to Jules' wonderful recap because she's got tons of pics and videos and you know, we were nowhere near that close to the stage anyway. :)

Okay, some random TV ramblings:

. I'm enjoying Royal Pains a whole lot more than I could ever expect. The show's pretty ridiculous, but I guess it plays up the ridiculousness so well that it's able to sell all of these completely obnoxious characters as actual people.

. I still can't believe The Unusuals was canceled. :( Televisionary wrote a sort of eulogy for the last episode, this is exactly how I feel as well. Again, :(.

. Are you guys watching In Plain Sight? What about Burn Notice? Because SERIOUSLY. Both shows are kicking MAJOR ASS this season, and I feel it's such a shame that only a handful people in my flist watch either of them. *nods wisely*

. I'm totally stalling and still haven't watched either of the Kings new eps. Dunno why.

. I asked over on Twitter but no one answered me, so let's try it again: did anyone watch Hawthorne? Is it any good? I like pretty much everyone in the cast, but I admit that I didn't have the courage to even watch the pilot.

4. I uploaded this for famousdeaths, but figured everyone needs it: Jessica Lea Mayfield - With Blasphemy, So Heartfelt [on Sendspace]. Been listening to it for two days straight now, and it's one of the loveliest albums ever. Yes.

5. I've been slowly adding more recipes to my Vox account -- stuff I've tried and really loved, and wanted to have online in case I lose the tiny pieces of paper I've scribbled them on. *g*

In other news, I woke up in A MOOD today and not even spending plenty moneys on yummy groceries did the usual trick there.

So the plan is to spend the afternoon primping until the cows come home [nails and legs and hair, oh my!] while watching the most comforting TV I can find [which is basically a combination of Generation Kill, Spielberg's Munich and NCIS S3, because my idea of comforting is warped].

And then maybe going out and watching Star Trek again, because WHO CARES if I've just seen it again yesterday?!

GAH.

You know, I've never had any doubts whatsoever that the PR offices over at FOX are incredibly shitty at what they do. And now they're at it again: a FOX publicist sent an email to dollverse.com basically telling them what they can and cannot post.

Just... go read that post, really. I'm not even invested in this show anymore and that email has me sitting here seething with anger at the mere thought that an official network spokesperson believes he can control what a FANSITE can or cannot say. And this is the kicker, really. They're not doing the cease & desist crap over media posted/hosted, or fanfic or fanart or anything else that they might consider copyrighted material. They're trying to control news-type text content. On a BLOG.

So far nothing for the weekend, which I appreciate very much. And there's also the V remake, which no one even knows whether it's a serialized show or a miniseries or whatnot, nor when it's gonna air. The trailer looks as ridiculously ominous as expected, but it's by far the prettiest cast ever assembled.

Also, WHAT IS IT with the three billion new medical/paramedics/nurses/hospital dramas? Seriously, is this just because ER ended? Do people think they need to OVERFILL the gap? GAH.

Also also: FOX aired a rest-of-the-season type trailer for Glee, which is very very spoilery, so proceed with caution. AND! The cast performing Somebody to Love at the upfronts. The awesomeness, it is endless, oh yes, oh sweet alliteration YES.

Anyway. Thoughts on the FOX upfronts:

. FOX has officially canceled Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. GODFUCKINGDAMMIT I HATE EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW. The Washington Post has a Dollhouse-related article that pretty much confirms my previous speculations. Sometimes I REALLY HATE being right. :(

. On that note, I currently HATE Dollhouse and pretty much wish everyone related to it to go DIAF.

I watched the leaked Glee pilot a couple of times last week and really REALLY enjoyed it. I've never seen anything HSM-related, so I can't compare, but my flist and friendsfriends say this is what HSM would be had it known the meaning of the word "sarcasm"? HEE. Well, I wouldn't expect anything less from the dude who created Popular. [Though I hear the episode has been re-worked for tomorrow's premiere? Anyone knows if it's just a cut down to 42-45 minutes, or did actual re-shooting happen?]

One thing that I'm gonna have to work on is trying to overcome my enormous dislike of Jayma Mays. 'Cause I do like her character, but... she looks like a psycho killer omfg so creepy! Ack.

Non-spoilery reaction: I CAN'T STAND PATRICK JANE [though I admit that 99% of it comes from my seething hatred of Simon Baker]. I still haven't decided if Lisbon is frigid or virgin. I usually like Robin Tunney, but it bugs me A LOT that the writing makes Lisbon either stupid or incompetent so that Jane can do his shit.

I wasn't really interested in seeing Star Trek because a) I've never watched the original series anyway and b) JJ Abrams is like, THE DEVIL. But then yesterday I was prepping promo shots of the movie for work [my work is ridiculous sometimes, I KNOW] and had a moment of "hey, these look so pretty, I should go see it". Also, a worldwide release means the entire internets explode together and if I see it early I can participate. *g*

So I figured I could go see it early today 'cause I had a free afternoon. Around noon, my phone rang --

* "You free?" would be a good equivalent, except the phrase in Portuguese is absolutely ridiculous/hilarious and yet Juju and I use it all the time and I swear I don't know anyone else who stills says it because HI, the nineties called and they want their vocabulary back, but we still say it and it works so there.

And then it was AWESOMETASTIC. You guuuuuys. I *loved* it so much omfg it was incredible! Seriously, the last time I've had this much fun watching a big loud movie was Iron Man, and you all know what happened then. In other news I slept 12 hours straight last night so I freaked out and made the strongest coffee in the world ever when I woke up. And now I feel like I should be running around the block -- or alternately [and more likely], dancing in the middle of my bedroom -- but I can't because my shoulders hurt A LOT from sleeping too much.
